October 2015

Ah, October ... leaves changing, shorter days, and pumpkin spice everything!  First off, we appreciate all the parents who attended SEPs on September 28th and 29th and hope it was a productive meeting between teachers and parents.  From where I was sitting, it looked like there was quite a bit of interest in the accessing the survey and in the After School programs.

After the first week of the Conditions4Learning survey, Woodrow Wilson is ranking 1st of all the elementary schools!!  We would like to stay there!!  So, if you have not completed the survey, we would encourage you to do so. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and give us great feedback as to how we are doing ... what works and what doesn't. The survey can be found at: www.C4LQ.com and the code for Woodrow Wilson Elementary is 511579 for parents.  Help us make Woodrow Wilson Elementary GREAT!!

The first Woodrow Wilson Elementary Mobile Pantry seemed to be well received!  Many families receive items on September 28th which was the first time for this event.  The pantry will return on Monday, October 26th from 3:30 - 4:30 PM while supplies last.  To read more about the pantry, please see the write up on the Mobile Food Pantry.  We want to thank the Granite Education Foundation for their support to our families!!

Each year a theme search contest is held where students can submit ideas for upcoming years. Entries are narrowed down to 5 per state and then the National PTA Reflections Committee makes a final selection.  The winner will be selected in January and will receive $100 and recognition at the National PTA Convention.  To participate in the theme search, students would fill out the Theme Search Entry Form.  Deadline for participation is Friday, October 30, 2015 (the form say 2016 but that is a typo).

Ms. Mitchell has lined up the judges for the school's Reflection entries and all students participating will need to fill out the Student Entry Form and the Artist's Statement Form.  Students need to have access to the Rules for Participation (English / Spanish) as well as the rules for the category that they are entering on the General and Art Category Rules webpage.

Deadline for Reflection entries at the school will be on Monday, November 2, 2015.
